If there’s a natural among us, it’s Taylor. It wasn’t after but a few classes of watching her at the barre as a student that my wheels were turning on hiring her to teach. Teacher training was a breeze & certifying her even breezier... Taylor’s years of dance enable her to see a set once & teach it flawlessly. All while her ponytail swings in time to the music.
She presents as innocent & hopeful, a wonderful and genuine combination with the fact that she is smart, driven & down to earth. I admire that she is thoughtful & deliberate, she actively seeks advice & growth... You can’t teach someone to be that open to possibility, and I love that she brings that energy into the studio, into her teaching & especially into our friendship.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Buffalo born and raised, and I love this city. Go Bills! In May of 2016, I graduated from Nazareth College and now I am working towards my master's degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. I'm hoping to excel my career in marketing, but for now I work full-time in higher education. I also have a kitty named Lilo.
What originally brought you to the studio & what made you want to teach?
After graduating college I wanted to find a workout class that provided me with dance foundations because I was a dancer since I was four years old. I decided to try out a class at the studio and I absolutely loved it. It brought me back to ballet class. When Melissa reached out to ask if I would be interested in becoming an instructor, I couldn't have been more excited. She told me that I just look happy in the studio, and she was so right.
Most rewarding part of the job?
I can't name just one rewarding part of being a barre instructor. First, teaching barre is my time to unwind, to free my mind of everything else that is going on in life, and I absolutely love that aspect. Second, that feeling after class when clients tell me "great class tonight" or a simple "Thank you, Taylor" is so fulfilling. Last but certainly not least, my barre babes. I don't know what I would do without them! We always have so much fun when we get together for dinners at the Grange.
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family, and I also love to cook. In the summer you can find me on the beach playing volleyball, and in the winter you can find me skating at the ice rink downtown. Finally, traveling and weekend getaways are my time to adventure and reset from my busy life.
