Get To Know Sara Mallaber

Sara began attending classes two weeks after I opened the studio.  She lit up the barre, so clearly happy & at home in the space.  I had to have her.  As my first instructor, she helped build the studio culture we all now enjoy.  Her ballet background makes her movements thoughtful & form-focused.  And her smile while teaching reminds us all of how it feels to find something you really love.

You can find Sara at the barre Tuesday evenings 6pm.  Please read on & enjoy... Melissa

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am currently a graduate student at Hilbert College, working on my graduate research project:  Improving Health and Wellness in the Workplace.  I work in student services at E.C.C.  My most important role is being a mom to my beautiful daughter Avery.  She is a silly, energetic, and caring 4 year old.  We live in Hamburg and love everything about our amazing community.

What originally brought you to the studio & what made you want to teach?

I was in need of a work out that brought me back to my dancing roots.  I grew up dancing and loved every aspect of it.  The way my body & mind felt after a good class, and the relationships I made with everyone in the studio.  The first time I walked into The Barre Studio, I felt a part of me light up again.  I spoke with Melissa and immediately felt a connection.  I remember being at the barre folded over in glutes, my legs burning, but feeling a rush of excitement.  This was what my body had been craving.  I knew that teaching would be just what I needed.  The combination between getting to do an exercise I love, and being in the studio with such an amazing group of women was the perfect fit.

Most rewarding part of the job?

I have been a part of the studio for over two years now and I couldn't be more proud of Melissa and the beautiful barre family we have all created.  I am grateful for the relationships I have made with our clients and the friends I have gained.  I love chatting with our clients about their lives and how the studio is also important to them.

What do you do in your free time?

My absolute favorite thing to do is be present with my little one.  We love creek walks, long drives, and of course, dancing around the house!  We are Buffalo Bills fans and are proud season ticket holders, Go Bills!  I enjoy the occasional evening out in Hamburg, usually indulging in a cheese plate at The Grange. :)
